April 1997
Life is a blessing and something that is passing me by so fast. I
keep a busy schedule and I'm lucky to have been able to support my
family doing something I love so much.
I have the best of both worlds with a home in the mountains and
now another down on the flatlands. I treasure my family the most and
love watching the children grow. I wish that I might slow the pages
down a bit and cherish the moment longer.
You know, I love to ski. I'm not the greatest skier in the world,
but I love it. I can do all the hairy black diamond stuff. It's not
pretty, but I love the attitude that goes with being outside on a
cold February morning flying down the mountain. And I sorta believe
that skiing just about anywhere in the world is a gasser. For me, the
difference between my home in Summit County, Colorado, and anywhere
else is our people. The PEOPLE make the difference. We love to laugh
and play and work and it shows in the faces of the children on
Thursday mornings when they go with their teachers up the slopes. It
shows in the eyes of 80 year old Olav Pedersen guiding blind skiers
down a quiet cross country road at the Breckenridge Nordic Area, and
it shows in our stores and galleries. You have to love people to live
in Summit County...and we have that love here.
I wish everyone could have a good night's sleep, a great book, a
best friend, children, an old Martin guitar, a new Martin guitar, a
nice red wine, and a clean Jeep.
