The Governor of West Virginia, Joe Manchin, joined Jim to sing Take Me Home Country Roads, in Big Sky Montana on March 28th, 2009.

On October 8th, 2008, Jim was part of the ceremony at the Capitol, as John Denver's portrait was presented to the State of Colorado. John's brother, Ron and mother, Erma Deutchendorf were also in attendance.

On March 12th, 2007, Jim was honored to perform at the Capital when John's song "Rocky Mountain High" was elevated to an official Colorado State Song.

In late September 2008, Jim and Pam toured Russia, including St. Petersburg and Moscow.

On July 3,2006 Jim and his friends performed to a sold out audience at the Breckenridge Riverwalk Center. Joining Jim for the concert was Eric Moon on keyboard, James Salestrom on guitar and vocals, Dave Heck on drums, Pete Huttlinger on lead guitar and vocals and Rich Lamb on bass.

In Phoenix Arizona, Jim and his wife Pam took time out for a game of golf with their friends, John and Sandra Day O'Connor.

On December 21, 2002 Jim was honored to perform at the White House. Joining him for the performances were Tony Snow and Chris Nole.

On August 20, 1998, at the Riverwalk Center in Breckenridge Colorado, Jim's original band, Timberline, played together for the first time in 15 years. With Chuck Salestrom on bass, Jim on guitar and banjo, Craig Link on drums, Dugg Duggan on guitar and mouth harps, and Don Garberg filling in for the late Bill Howland on keyboards, the band thrilled a sold out audience with some of their original music and some of Jim's later songs in the first set of the show.
